Assurance of God

As I was reflecting and praying this morning the thought given to me was that someone needs to know of the assurance of God that He will always be there.

Psalm 121 is one of my most treasured scriptures which says:

"I lift up my eyes to the hills-

from where does my help come?

My help comes from the LORD,

who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;

he who keeps you will not slumber.

He who keeps Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper;

the LORD is your shade at your right hand,

The sun shall not strike you by day,

nor the moon by night,

The LORD will keep you from all evil;

he will keep your life.

The LORD will keep

your going out and your coming in

from this time on and forevermore." (NRSV)

These words were such a comfort to me a few years ago when my marriage fell apart and I found myself living alone for the first time in my life. I went from living at home with my mom, brother and twin sister, to being married at the age of 18 years old. I was married for 33+ years never thinking that things would be any different. And yet here I was.

My world had totally changed and I was at the lowest point in my life that I had ever been. For 8 years I had been serving as a Local Pastor with the UMC and had been preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and how God was always walking with us every step of the way. Easy words to tell someone else until it comes time for you to live out the words personally.

The first year I felt like I was in a fog and on one particular night I was crying out to God telling Him I was scared, alone and my heart was broken. It was in that moment that He led me to Psalm 121 and from that time on it has become one of the scriptures I go to whenever I begin to let fear or doubt creep in.

The Lord is our help in times of struggle. The Lord will not leave us to deal with things on our own, ever!! He is our keeper, our shade at our right hand protecting us during the times we walk through the fire and our light when we find ourselves in a dark place! I know this to be true because I have been there and experienced His presence in a mighty way!

He is there for you too! Don't despair! Turn to Him and He will be your comfort, your shield, your protector, your guide, your healer and your friend! God loves you, loves all of us, so much!

When nothing else is left there's God!

It's been five years this year and He has brought me so far from where I was! I give all the glory to Him! I know that He is the one to rely on for my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Praying you find rest, peace, healing and hope through Him, the creator of all things seen and unseen, the lover of our souls!

Love to you all!
