Prayer & Fasting

It’s Thursday evening and I just got home from play rehearsal. Ate some dinner and I’m now relaxing.

I’ve been thinking and praying more about what it means to fast with regard to being a follower of Jesus Christ. I don’t think we emphasize this enough in our services and our personal lives.

In the story of Esther she was called by God to go before the king and request safety for her people. In that time she could have been killed for just requesting to see the king let alone making a request such as this. Before she would even consider this she said, ““Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”” Esther‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Because she did this and the Jews in Susa did as well, God spared her life and her people. Today we can do the same thing in order to seek God’s wisdom, direction, truth & protection.

When we hear the term fasting we automatically think of not eating for a period of time. That is one way. There are other ways as well. Fasting from Social media, television, etc. Whatever seems to be getting in the way of your relationship with God.

Let us choose to grow closer to God through His Word, prayer & fasting! Then get ready to see God work in your life in amazing ways!!

Have a blessed evening my friends!
