Sing to the Lord a New Song

Psalm 96:1-6
1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. 6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.
Every new year we all have this feeling of being given a new start! That this year things are going to be better and we can begin again! And then reality sets in. Something happens that is not what you expected and not what you would have asked for to happen. And so it goes...
Life is a journey and we may think we know what is going to happen, but the reality is that we do not. Only God knows.
So we have a choice. When the difficult and unexpected things come we can either say "woe is me" or we can say "I will sing to the LORD a new song". We can either blame God, blame others for the situation or we can turn to God and praise Him in the midst of the storm.
Walking Through the Fire with Jesus is not promised to be easy. It is promised to be worth it in the end. In the end when we remain faithful and praising our God, we are given the promise that one day we will see Jesus face to face and live in the actual presence of God!
When we find ourselves in the deepest, darkest place of our lives, whether through our actions or the actions of others there is one thing we can count on. God is right there with us preparing the way. Jesus is right there with us giving us His love, mercy and strength. Jesus even carries us when we are so broken, so tired, and can't seem to find the strength or desire to take one more step. I know! I have been there!
For me, this year has not started out like I had expected or hoped and for a little while I was feeling sorry for myself. Then a voice within me said, "I am the LORD, your God and I will never fail you or leave you or your loved ones on your own." I rejoice and praise Him for that!
Maybe you are in the fire right now. Maybe you are in the beginning process of refinement, being renewed or being restored. Wherever you find yourself this day, know that Jesus is in this fire with you! You are not alone!! With God, with Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit all things are possible! You will not be in the fire forever! A new day is coming!! Praise the LORD for that!
"I will sing the LORD a new song...For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise"
Be blessed this week! Jesus loves you and so do I!
Love through Him that loves us all,
Gwen
